I strongly suspect that natNetworkInterface.c was distributed without the latest set of patches. Have not as of yet seen any of these patches... but the news groups seem to think they exist for a similar problem. The distributed packages seem to pre-date various patches discussed in the news groups... Perhaps the "nat?" routines were packaged and released by mistake.
