Summary: segv
Product: gcc
Version: 3.3.1
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: c++
AssignedTo: unassigned at gcc dot gnu dot org
ReportedBy: igodard at pacbell dot net
CC: gcc-bugs at gcc dot gnu dot org
Something on the command line is essential - plain "g++ tst.ii"
will compile without the segv.

With the mainline (20030802), this no longer ICE's but since the mainline now has two-stage name
lookups and the old libstdc++ was not complaint with that, I cannot really tell if it is fixed.
I can reproduce it with 3.3.1 (20030707), 3.2.3, 3.2.2, 3.0.4, and 2.95.3 though.
I have not tried to reduce the source though.

Confirmed. Here's a reduced testcase:
------------------------------
template<typename T>
struct B {
typedef B<T> S;
};
template<typename T>
struct D : B<T> {
friend class S;
D(T v) : B(v) {}
};
------------------------------------
This ICEs every gcc version up to and including 3.3:
g/x> /home/bangerth/bin/gcc-3.3-pre/bin/c++ -c x.cc
x.cc:8: warning: `class S' declares a new type at namespace scope
x.cc:8: warning: names from dependent base classes are not visible to
unqualified name lookup - to refer to the inherited type, say `class D::S'
x.cc:9: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <URL:http://gcc.gnu.org/bugs.html> for instructions.
However, this seems already fixed in mainline.
W.
