           Summary: java.rmi.Naming does not parse rmi: URIs correctly
           Product: gcc
           Version: 3.4
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: libgcj
        AssignedTo: unassigned at gcc dot gnu dot org
        ReportedBy: bryce at mckinlay dot net dot nz
                CC: gcc-bugs at gcc dot gnu dot org
 BugsThisDependsOn: 11899

java.rmi.Naming attempts to parse rmi URIs by prepending "http:" and using the URL class. This
does not work in many cases, for example:

Naming.rebind("rmi://127.0.0.1:1099/CalculatorService", c);

results in an UnknownHostException.

See also this thread:
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/java/2003-08/msg00149.html

java.rmi.Naming should be modified to use the java.net.URI class, once that is implemented.
