The only noticable performance change I see is a 3% improvement in mesa with my patches, but 3% is small enough that it could be within my measurement error. David Edelsohn has agreed that my patches did not introduce performance regressions. See http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc/2003-09/msg00377.html So I am not closing this problem report.
