Postponed until GCC 3.3.2; this bug does not occur on Solaris sytems beyond
Solaris 2.6.

Hi Gaby. As pointed out by Mark the bug doesn't occur on Solaris 2.x, x > 6, and
anyway the bug is not that serious. So, if you ask my opinion, I think that we
do *not* have a chance, honestly.

Trouble is, the same regression appears on irix6.5.  I filed a
separate PR/10809 for it, but Wolfgang closed that one as a duplicate
of this one, PR/10703.

Irix6.5 is a "primary" evaluation platform, so while I can see why we
wouldn't debug this for solaris2.5, I'd like to ask that we at least
try and fix this regression on irix6.5.  (With the caveat that I can't
be the one to debug it, sorry I know that's lame but I really can't
help.)

So I'd like to at least reopen 10809 and target it for 3.4.

How does that sound?  Ok?

I'm not eager to reopen this PR.

I suppose that technically, we should reopen it on the basis of the IRIX 6.5
failure.  However, I suspect that the fix may be to determine that IRIX 6.5
should no longer be a primary evaluation platform; it's not a very popular
platform any more.  In practice, this PR will not be fixed until someone with an
IRIX 6.5 system figures out what is going wrong.

I agree with Paolo's assessment. 

For the future, 3.4 is in good shape on Irix 6.5. (And the ancient
versions of Solaris.) For the present, the failure is not a
high-priority bug.

The gcc-3_3-branch and mainline testsuite have diverged to the point
that no mainline tests are getting back-ported to the 3_3-branch
testsuite. It's entirely possible that the 3.3 branch code, which has
had back-ports from 3.4, is not completely in sync with the 3.3.x
testsuite code. Although a regrettable situation, I regard it as a
temporary glitch due to the effort to fix up the libstdc++ test
infrastructure happened after 3.2 and 3.3 branched.

is the only one which fails on mips-sgi-irix6.5.
