I'm trying to build gcc-3.3.3 for the ppc-elf target on a hppa1.1-hp-hpux10.20 host.
The build fails with the following error :
../../gcc-3.3.3/gcc/config/rs6000/rs6000.h:2617: error: size of array
`rs6000_reg_names' is too large

Reading this file, i can't find any error :
extern char rs6000_reg_names[][8];      /* register names (0 vs. %r0).  */

So, i try to make a testcase which shows this problem :
test_fail.c
<<<<<<<<<<<<
/* Works */
int toto[] = { 1, 2 };

/* Works */
int tutu[1];

/* Doesn't work ! */
int tata[2];
>>>>>>>>>>>

And do this command line :
gcc-3.3.3-HPUX-cross/prod_gcc/gcc/xgcc -Bgcc-3.3.3-HPUX-cross/prod_gcc/gcc/  -c
test_fail.c -o test_fail.o
test_fail.c:5: error: size of array `tata' is too large
test_fail.c:5: error: storage size of `tata' isn't known

I've tried this with gcc 3.2.1, gcc 3.2.3 and finally 3.3.3, I still have this
problem. But no problem for a native HPUX compiler...

Any Idea ?

Benoît Renard.
