Yes, on mainline we still have a problem compiling qt-x11-free-3.3.0 on, e.g., i386 NetBSD. It crashes when using the PCH. There is a brief note in the PR on 2004-04-06. You've suggested some approaches which I expect will work, but I haven't implemented anything yet. (Not that I want to have a monopoly on fixing this problem, of course.)
