Looking at PR15660, the connection to the patch seems tenuous (
#2  0x080dcc14 in gt_ggc_ma_alias_invariant).  PR14671 fixed a problem
where objects in reg_known_value were being poissoned because objects
in reg_known_value weren't being marked.  This was triggered by the
addition of the ggc_collect () call in loop.c to fix a different PR.
We have a similar situation here.

More debugging needs to be done to find more about "p" and what's
really the problem in marking this object.

In my opinion, PR14671 can't be reverted unless PR12440 is reverted
(i.e., the garbage collection in loop_optimize).  Otherwise, we are
just trading one failure for another.
