Problem does not occur with g++ 3.2.2 or 3.4.1

The following should compile with an error message but the compiler dies in the
middle of printing an error message
#include <string>
template <class charT>
std::basic_ostream(charT)& operator<<(std::basic_ostream<charT>& os);

If the problem only occurs in 3.2 and not in 3.2.2, the problem is already fixed.
