On Solaris 9 (x86), after ./configure, make gcc 3.4.3
gives   

gcc -g -O2 -DIN_GCC   -W -Wall -Wwrite-strings -Wstrict-prototypes -Wmissing-p

I reinstalled libiconv and it worked OK.
