In my opinion it is absolutely not useful to define a DF mode type on the AVR platform. Both excecution time and memory footprint would probably so large that they will not be of any relevance. What one could possibly consider IMHO is the implementation of a 3-Byte floating-point type with a 16 bit mantissa. Is there any know workaround so far?
