The following C++ code will ICE:
struct wxString;
struct wxString* wxGetEmptyString();

struct wxString GetHeader()
{
  return *wxGetEmptyString();
}


Note this does not ICE with the C front-end.

Confirmed.

This crashes since gcc 3.2.1.

The error message on mainline is:

bug.cc: In function 'wxString GetHeader()':
bug.cc:5: error: return type 'struct wxString' is incomplete
bug.cc:7: internal compiler error: in create_tmp_var, at gimplify.c:368
Please submit a full bug report, [etc.]

Front end bug.

      error ("return type %q#T is incomplete", TREE_TYPE (fntype));

      /* Make it return void instead, but don't change the
         type of the DECL_RESULT, in case we have a named return value.  */

This is in fact the problem.  If you don't want to make the DECL_RESULT be
VOIDtype (due to follow-on errors), then you need to make it error_mark_node.
