The subvar isn't initially marked as addressable if the regular var is in create_sft. The second is what is actually causing your bug, AFAICT. In create_sft, add TREE_ADDRESSABLE (sft) = TREE_ADDRESSABLE (var) in all the flags it is copying, and it should fix the bug.
