gcc 3.3 is working fine in Interix (Services for Unix under Windows) on other
Windows XP machines that I use (both laptop and desktop)

A new installation of SFU35SEL_EN.exe (SFU/Interix) on a new IBM ThinkPad
laptop with Centrino Duo procesor does not seem to allow compilation of any
program (I for instance tried the well-known dedos program). The system
description is:
Interix 3.5 SP-8.0.1969.1 x86 Intel_x86_Family6_Model15_Stepping6
while the reported error message (in response to: gcc dedos.c) is:
gcc; Internal error: Segmentation fault (program cc1)

I also have this problem. I have a pentium D in this computer - maybe its a
conflict that exists when you have multi-core processors?

Have you disabled DEP? A description of how to do this can be found here:

There is a hotfix available from Microsoft that fixes the issue.
No need to disable DEP.

See http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/InterixDevelopment
and install the "crash when DEP is enabled" hotfix
from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929141/en-us
