[-- Warning: decoded text below may be mangled, UTF-8 assumed --]
[-- Attachment #1: Type: text/plain, Size: 23920 bytes --]

I was able to generate an internal error with the following code snippet:

----snip----
#include <stdio.h>

char s[]="Hello World";
#define xchg(m, in, out)      \
    asm("xchg%z0 %2,%0" : "=g" (*(m)), "=r" (out) : "1" (in))

int main()
{

xchg((char *)s, s[1], s[2]);

printf ("%s\n",s);

}
----snip----
(not that spacing *should* matter, I have left it in "just in case")

To generate the error, I did:
sshah@host:~$ gcc -v -save-temps -O3 exchange-bytes.c
Using built-in specs.

Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <URL:http://gcc.gnu.org/bugs.html> for instructions.
For Debian GNU/Linux specific bug reporting instructions,
see <URL:file:///usr/share/doc/gcc-4.1/README.Bugs>.
Preprocessed source stored into /tmp/ccvcNtHv.out file, please attach this to
your bugreport.

This is stock Ubuntu 7.04. Host is vmware on Windows XP SP 2 on a Centrino
laptop(ThinkPad T60). Compiling without any options generates the same output.
Compiling with -c does the same.

Per the output, /tmp/ccvcNtHv.out is below. Hope this helps. Please feel free
to email me if more information is needed.
