Confirmed. The test pr17143.f90 relies on wrapping on overflow, so it's
probably
a WONTFIX. Reduced test for power_8.f90:
integer(1) :: j
j = 7
print *, (-2_1) ** j
print *, (-512_8) ** j
end
There are no runtime errors if I replace j with 7.
