Subject: [Bug target/104250] [i386] GCC may want to use 32-bit (I)DIV if it can for 64-bit operands
Date: Thu, 27 Jan 2022 08:12:55 +0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-104250-4-3KGP1ZogQa@http.gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/> (raw)

Richard Biener <rguenth at gcc dot gnu.org> changed:

           What |Removed |Added
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
             Target| |x86_64-*-* i?86-*-*

--- Comment #1 from Richard Biener <rguenth at gcc dot gnu.org> ---
I'll note the code is significantly larger and requires at least one extra
register. It also has the chance of mispredicting the branch in which case
it will likely be slower. But I guess it's something for value-profiling?
