Simplified C testcase (without std::vector usage):

#define SZ 4096

void foo1(int *a) {
    __builtin_memset(a, 0, sizeof(int)*SZ);
    for (int n = 0; n < SZ; ++n) {
        a[n] = n;
    }
}
