For what it's worth: as the original reporter, I no longer care about this bug
(or typeof in general), because we now have C++11 with decltype. :)

Yeah, I agree. In my impression, the maintainance of typeof in C++ is in
serious-regressions-only mode, and I'm going to close this as WONTFIX as you
asked. But I'm adding Jason in CC, just in case.

Agreed.  GCC 3.3 and the current mainline fails to compile the examples.
