Is the test still failing? It does not appear in the
powerpc64-unknown-linux-gnu logs (both -m32 and -m64) at
http://gcc.gnu.org/ml/gcc-testresults/2012-01/ .

Neither test case ICEs for me with today's trunk. I also tried compiling them
with some lighty patched gcc 4.5 and 4.6 compilers, and they pass there too, so
we can probably close this now.

Subject: Re: ICE on gcc/testsuite/gcc-dg/vmx/ops.c

There are much more constructive ways in which to interact with
the GCC community, GCC developers, and port maintainers than you have
chosen to pursue.

I am sorry that we are not addressing your particular bug as
quickly as you would like. Insisting on action after one week and making
personal attacks are not appropriate.

Doesn't fail on powerpc-darwin (nor apparently on powerpc-aix).

------- Comment #14 from malitzke at metronets dot com 2007-06-21 00:53 -------

This whole series of postings from myself had one aim:

to _shame_ Messrs David Edelsohn an Geoff Keating to step up to their
resposibilities. You, Pinski, are not listed as a maintainer for RS600; they
are.

Mr Keating, form the ChangeLog is connected in some way with Apple (ex
Computer). Apple dumped RS6000 quite some time ago in favor of i386 and his
more recent patches reflect that. Maybe he should vacate that gcc slot for
somebody
else.

I am sorry that have to be that explicit in this forum, but my patience just
gave out. If somebody take offense so be it.

This is a target bug. Nothing can change it from being a target bug unless it
turns out to be a middle-end bug on how addressing works inside the compiler.
The main reason why it has not been confirmed, is because I and others have
been busy with some of your other bugs and other things (like traveling to
Japan).

Why is this still unconfirmed after the corrobation by Mrs Johnson?

Personally I could not care less if it is swept under the rug, like so many
other
PR's. Without-altivec would suit me fine as altivec is, to me, just a competive
and unnecessary competitive response, by then Motorola, to Intel's SSE, which
to me is just gumming up the X86 part of the compiler.

Thank you Mrs Johnson for putting in (by my reckoning) an inordinate amount of
hours to put some bounds on this problems.

I am sure you are aware of the old adage "A stitch in time saves nine". If some
developer/maintainers had examined the check results many month ago this would
have been much easier to fix. This inattention to sound procedures was raised
in the discussion leading to the release of gcc-4.2.0. One participant in that
discussion even advocated abandoning gcc-4.2.x series altogether and we all
have to thank Prof. Sikora for persevering in the case of quadratic memory
consumption with a remark as follows:

yup, looks like a nice bullet for 4.2.0 release.
with such features 4.2 will be widely /dev/nulled.

I took the liberty of making you a CC on PR 32314, as with your presentation at
the 2005 GCC meeting shows that you are a proponent for decimal floating point.
Your calming influence will be appreciated.

Thanks again.

------- Comment #9 from janis at gcc dot gnu dot org 2007-06-15 23:40 -------
This makes no sense to me, but I'll report it in case it does to someone else.
With compilers for powerpc64-linux, the test compiled with "-c -O2 -mcpu=7450"
(or -Os instead of -O2) passes with GCC 4.0 and fails with GCC 4.1 and later.
A regression hunt of mainline between the branchpoints for 4.0 and 4.1
identified revision 106744. That was a bit messy because r106743 introduced a
typo which was fixed in 106746. A powerpc-linux cross compiler built from
r106741 plus the patch for r106744 also caused the test to fail. The odd thing
is that the patch for 106744 is for dom, but the test fails even with
-fno-tree-dominator-opts.

I tried the test with a variety of revisions from before and after that patch
to see if the results were intermittent, but they consistently pass before the
patch and fail afterwards.

The testcase proved resistant to minimizing, but I'll attached the smallest I
managed to get it. It's not preprocessed, still including altivec.h in case
changes to that file were related to the failure.

I get the same failure with my nightly build compiler for powerpc64-linux with
"-m32 -Os -mcpu=7450". I'll minimize the testcase and perhaps that nice young
man Andrew Pinski will fix the bug for us.

These are the results I get from a couple of (3) days old on powerpc64-linux:

# of expected passes 46391
# of unexpected failures 16

# of expected failures 138
# of unresolved testcases 2
# of untested testcases 35
# of unsupported tests 416

                === gcc Summary for unix//-m64 ===

# of expected passes 46238
# of unexpected failures 13
# of unexpected successes 3
# of expected failures 138
# of unresolved testcases 2
# of untested testcases 35
# of unsupported tests 484

                === gcc Summary ===

# of expected passes 92629
# of unexpected failures 29
# of unexpected successes 5
# of expected failures 276
# of unresolved testcases 4
# of untested testcases 70
# of unsupported tests 900
/home/apinski/src/ptrplus/gcc/objdir/gcc/xgcc version 4.3.0 20070611
(experimental)

And yes I know the unexpected failures look high, all of the problems related
to what I am running with really and nothing else.

Also by the way you should look into the changelog and you will notice I
started my GCC work with PPC :).

Well in this case, I am more of a PPC guy and not the bugmaster. I think I
know what the issue is already, but since you did "--disable-altivec" which
does not make sense as you did --with-cpu=7450 also.
