Subject: [Bug c++/36086] New: Internal Compiler Error on AIX 5.3 compiling Boost 1.35.0
Date: Wed, 30 Apr 2008 13:38:00 -0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <bug-36086-8963@http.gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/> (raw)

My system is IBM AIX 5.3, 64 bit kernel mode. I have installed the GCC
distribution downloaded from:

http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/p/os/aix/linux/toolbox/download.html

The installed packages are:

gcc-4.2.0-3.aix5.3.ppc.rpm
gcc-cplusplus-4.2.0-3.aix5.3.ppc.rpm
libgcc-4.2.0-3.aix5.3.ppc.rpm
libstdcplusplus-4.2.0-3.aix5.3.ppc.rpm
libstdcplusplus-devel-4.2.0-3.aix5.3.ppc.rpm

I'm trying to compile some code that uses the Boost C++ libraries
(http://www.boost.org/) but I often get an internal compiler error. For
example, a source file "test.cpp" with this only line:

#include <boost/filesystem/fstream.hpp>

compiled with:

g++ -v -save-temps -I/home2/install/gcc/boost_1_35_0 -c test.cpp

results in:

I can reproduce the ICE by compiling the preprocessed source:

# g++ -c test.ii
In file included from test.cpp:2:
/home2/install/gcc/boost_1_35_0/boost/filesystem/fstream.hpp:582: internal
compiler error: Segmentation fault

I don't know if it's relevant, but this is the output of ulimit -a (I'm running
as root):
