Please see (I hate to point to Wikipedia, but that’s illustrating the problem) the information at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go!_(programming_language) and correct the attribution. The Go language not in GCC has been around far longer and as such earlier naming rights, and it’s wrong for the FSF / GCC-SC to follow a vendor’s attempt of this hostile takeover. Thanks in advance! ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 6+ messages in thread

However, there are many computing products and services named Go. In the 13 months since the release of Google's Go langage, there has been minimal confusion of the two languages. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 6+ messages in thread

I’ve read the term “steamrolling” in Issue 9 later and find it fitting. I also think that someone working for Google should not be able to close this bug as WONTFIX due to a conflict of interests. Call it Google-Go or World of… well, taken. Or Issue 9. The compiler frontend probably can stay named gccgo. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 6+ messages in thread

If go is a reference it is a reference to the game anyways. Remember there is a go game and guess what that was first. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 6+ messages in thread
