I noticed that I was unable to specify a relative path when generating gcda
files:

# ${trunk_gcc} -Wall  -fprofile-generate=./fdoprof -fprofile-arcs in.c -o
trunk.out 
# ./trunk.out
profiling:/./fdoprof:Cannot create directory
profiling:/./fdoprof/in.gcda:Skip

I believe this was introduced in
