On the trunk started likely with

and got fixed with
http://gcc.gnu.org/viewcvs?root=gcc&view=rev&rev=173132 (aka PR48765).
Not sure if that patch is safely backportable though.

Yes, it's the same problem as in pr48765. I don't know how else to fix it
either than backport the patch. Do you think it's not safe because it's a big
patch that touches a lot of code?

That's up to you to decide, you are the maintainer ;)
My comment was just in the light of a longish ChangeLog entry, haven't read the
actual changes how risky they are, if there were any follow-ups needed, etc.

This problem is not very important. If it's hard to fix this bug, then do not

The 4.6 branch has been closed, fixed in GCC 4.7.0.
