Bug #: 51853
Summary: MPFR assertion failure with Python: p >= 2 && p <=
((mpfr_prec_t)((mpfr_uprec_t)(~(mpfr_uprec_t)0)>>1))
Classification: Unclassified
Product: gcc
Version: 4.6.2
Status: UNCONFIRMED

Hi,
Trying to build Python 2.7.2 (and also 3.2.2) with GCC 4.6.2 and MPFR 3.1.0, I
obtain the following error on HP PA-8600 running Debian (it is in
fact gcc61 in the GCC Compile Farm <http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/CompileFarm>):
/home/iulius/autobuild/bin/gcc-core-4.6.2/bin/gcc -pthread -c -DNDEBUG -g
-fwrapv -O3 -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -I. -IInclude -I./Include
-DPy_BUILD_CORE -o Objects/longobject.o Objects/longobject.c
init2.c:52: MPFR assertion failed: p >= 2 && p <=
((mpfr_prec_t)((mpfr_uprec_t)(~(mpfr_uprec_t)0)>>1))
Objects/longobject.c: In function 'PyLong_FromString':
Objects/longobject.c:2002:36: internal compiler error: Aborted
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <http://gcc.gnu.org/bugs.html> for instructions.

This is probably a bug in MPFR. A testcase needs to be reduced for it
though, looking at the mpfr calls arguments from GCC.

I doubt it's reproducible without a hppa host though.

More recent builds of Python2.7 and MPFR are available in the
Debian unstable archive. So, I believe this issue is resolved.
