FWIW The project compiles under (MacPorts gcc47 4.7.2_2) To reproduce: $ git clone git://github.com/ruby/ruby.git $ cd ruby $ git checkout v1_9_3_286 $ autoconf $ ./configure $ make --- $ uname -a Darwin localhost 12.2.0 Darwin Kernel Version 12.2.0: Sat Aug 25 00:48:52 PDT 2012; root:xnu-2050.18.24~1/RELEASE_X86_64 x86_64 $ gcc -v Using built-in specs.
