No, this is certainly valid in Fortran 2008: R1206 procedure-stmt is [ MODULE ] PROCEDURE [ :: ] procedure-name-list So, the "::" is allowed, but optional. Note that it is not allowed according to Fortran 2003, so gfortran will reject it with -std=f2003. > While gfortran goes through, other compilers like xlf or pgf90 complain about > it.
