The testcase is modified from PR 37208 (http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=37208). I'm fairly confident that previous 4.9 snapshots used to accept that kind of code (i.e. compile, undefined references notwithstanding), and I think 4.8 does -- no copy of 4.8.2 on hand though.
