void became a literal type in C++14.

Not if you use -std=c++11 it doesn't.
Both GCC and Clang reject it with -std=c++11 and accept it with -std=c++14, as
expected.
N.B. we don't need the full output of compiling with -v, just the output of
'gcc -v' is enough (and much less verbose).
