Bug ID: 67680
Summary: Seg Fault in gcc 4.9.3 compiling
libiberty/floatformat.c when building gcc 5.2.1 on
Cygwin 64 on Windows
Product: gcc

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3

both the configure and the make args were default. I've tried a wide variety
of args for both configure and make and the error is blindingly consistent.

--- Comment #4 from Brian Plummer <bplummer at hotmail dot com> ---
I had these comments in my message, but they got lost when I added my
attachment.
floatformat.preprocessed.c was created with this command :
Brian@MBPWin7-64 ~/gnu/gcc/gcc-5.2.0/libiberty
$ gcc -E -c -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -g -I. -I../build/libiberty/ -I../include -W
-Wall -Wwrite-strings -Wc++-compat -Wstrict-prototypes -pedantic floatformat.c
-o floatformat.preprocessed.c
compiling floatformat.preprocessed.c :
Brian@MBPWin7-64 ~/gnu/gcc/gcc-5.2.0/libiberty
$ gcc -c floatformat.preprocessed.c -o floatformat.o
floatformat.c: In function ‘floatformat_to_double’:
floatformat.c:529:2: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault
dto = ldexp (1.0, exponent);

I also tried out the fix and a plain non-bootstrap build
of trunk gcc dated 2015-09-22, compiled with -O3 -march=native,
seems to build ok.

Regarding gmp/mpfr. I built them myself and I thought I was careful about the
make checks...but maybe not. But I think you are correct about this. It's
almost certainly gmp or mpfr. I went ahead and tried to build them again...and
this time I ran into all kinds of trouble. I'll just wait until the Cygwin
team builds gcc 5.2 and makes it available. Thanks for your time...
