Moving down the code in function.c that's under the comment: /* If a named return value dumped decl_return to memory, then we may need to re-do the PROMOTE_MODE signed/unsigned extension. */ so that the test: else if (GET_MODE (real_decl_rtl) != GET_MODE (decl_rtl)) appears after the blocks that deal with PARALLELs and CONCATs fixes it for me, without any regressions on x86* regstraps. Could you please confirm it fixes bootstrap on alpha? TIA,
