I see the same thing on some arm targets:
arm-none-linux-gnueabihf --with-cpu=cortex-a5
arm-none-eabi -mcpu=cortex-m[034]

but for instance arm-none-linux-gnueabihf --with-cpu=cortex-a9 works.
