gcc 2.95.1 is old.  It's unlikely that this problem is going to be
fixed in such an old release.  It's definitely fixed in newer releases
(at the very least because texinfo is no longer bundled with gcc :-),
but you can probably work around it with some configure flag such as
--disable-nls, but you'd probably be better off using the latest
stable release of GCC or, if you really need GCC 2.95, the last
release out of the 2.95 branch.
