I'm using Linux Slackware 3.5 which comes with kernel 2.0.34 egcs 1.0.3.

I've recompiled the kernel and everything worked just fine until I
installed egcs 1.1.1.
After compiling the kernel using egcs 1.1.1, everything appeared to work
well until you
tried to run "startx". Other programs also found it suddently impossible
to access some
services or memory (like the "pnp" device detecter)...

Any explanations? Solutions? Anything?

Thanks in advance,
         Tzvi.
