I think what you are looking for is the "-o [name of executable]"
option, eg:
# gcc -o hello hello.c
or:
# gcc -c module.c
# gcc -o hello hello.c module.o
If you do not specify the -o option you would end up with an
executable named "a.out".
See "man gcc" for more information on these flags.
