Hi

I'm a relative new user to Linux, here at a computer
lab. I am trying to configure gcc at the moment, and
when i do, i get *** The command "cc -o conftest -g
conftest.c" failed.
*** You must set the enviroment variable CC to a
working compiler.

i have no idea what a compiler is either, all i've
really mastered is MySQL and installing perl modules
with CPAN. Please assist. I'd be eternally grateful.
