Dear Sr.,
concerning to gcc installation on Mandrake 9.1 Linux, I have a question:

During the configuration procedure i receved the message :
*** The command 'cc -o conftest -g conftest.c' failed.
*** You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler.

Do you know how find a solution?

Thank you in advance,

Arturo Ponce

Hello,

to build gcc from source you need to have an existing
compiler installed. Easiest way to get that is to
install gcc via rpm from your Mandrake cd. The rpm you
need to install is gcc-3.2.2-3mdk.i586.rpm and should
be on one of your Mandrake cdroms (or you can download
it).

Cheers,

Dara
