Hi, guys,

The Java thickens. :) One of our friends here thought building ended
abnormally because I used an old version of GNU tar. So I installed GNU
tar version-1.16 before launched gmake. After hours of work that began
at about 4:00 this morning, building abended again just now with these
messages that will interest Andrew because they're about Java.

mv: /usr/src/gc/sparc-sun-solaris2.8/libjava/libgcj-4.2.0.jar: No space
left on device
make[3]: *** [libgcj-4.2.0.jar] Error 2
make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/share/src/gc/sparc-sun-solaris2.8/libjava'
make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/share/src/gc/sparc-sun-solaris2.8/libjava'
make[1]: *** [all-target-libjava] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/share/src/gc'
gmake: *** [bootstrap] Error 2

Thanks.

Bill

Hi, all,

I found libintl.so.3 in a pkg file at http://www.sunfreeware.com. So I'm
sorry I bothered you by asking where I could find that library file.
Thanks.

I'll do that. Now I need to get another copy of libintl.so.3 because I
pkgrmed the old gtar before I pakadded the current one. Does anyone
know where I can get another copy of it?

But is it GNU tar 1.14 or later?

The reason I ask, is that I had this identical problem using busybox
tar. Files with path names longer than some limit are not extracted,
and you get the behavior you are seeing.

Looks like you were not using GNU tar to unpack the sources.

That should be a documented requirement.

Here are the error messages I get when I try to build gcc-4.2.0. I
don't know whether they're about Java, because I can't find the
documents on the www that told me they were about it.
