It sounds like you installed a second co= py rather than updating them, and that the path they're in happens to come = first in your PATH when you're logged in as a user, and not as root... If = that's the case, then to build as root, you would need to place the directo= ry that your new binutils are in at the beginning of you PATH before trying= to build.
