I'm a newbie C programmer wishing to convert some old legacy MS C 6.0
code (a specialized database program for stock market research) to gcc &
GNU/Linux.

Is there a mapping between the MS include files such as io.h and stlib.h
and gcc files or possibly ncurses for console menus?

Are there any good resources that would help me? Suggestions for a book?

My immediate goal is to re-create the database viewer. A database is
three-dimensional, containing many time series for many companies, where
numeric data is stored in binary form and time series are defined with
algorithmic date functions.

Thanks for your help.
