Subject: g++ dynamic library search setting
Date: Thu, 13 Feb 2003 19:39:00 -0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <3E4C7782@webmail.bcpl.net> (raw)

We have gcc installed in /usr/local/GCC rather that /usr/local. If we build
with the --enable-shared option, then g++ and g77 are unable to find the
required libraries. We want to set up gcc to search /usr/local/GCC/lib when
compiling *without* having to set up LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Is there a way of doing
this?

KDE for example requires that gcc be built in shared mode as does linux so
--disable-shared, while apparently working on many systems, does cause
problems and should be avoided.
