gcc 2.91.66 Linux Redhat 6.1
I'm trying to link in a static library, using every option known to gcc
and ld, however nothing I do seems to override dynamic linking. If I
put the full pathname to the static library (libc.a) it does link it in,
however it also links in the dynamic version (libc.so). Is this a bug?
Is this why my program crashes before it gets to main()?
In case you're wondering, libc.a contains "xstat", libc.so does not.
Thank you for any insight!!!

P.S. If there is a libc.so that does contain the xstat definition (text
segment) I'd appreciate knowing what version, that might also be an
acceptable way to get over this particular hump.
