GNU compiler for java

GNU compiler for java

Hello,

 I am interested in knowing if GNU Compiler for java (GCJ) can convert a java source program to a windows binary running on Itanium. [I saw itanium is supported for linux and hp-ux only]. If not, how difficult is it to add that support?

also, is there a benchmark on how fast it will be vis-a-vis the JVM bundled with sun's jdk 1.6?

Hard to say.  It's been a long time since I tried it, but it might
still work.

I think you'd have to try it.  It's easy enough to download and
install on a GNU/Linux box.  I can talk you through the process.

Try again using cygwin so you have a decent environment to build in?

in building it.

At this point, you are pretty much out of luck - if 
getting Java running on Windows were simple and easy, it would have been 
done already and you would already have it. Nobody can give you the binaries 
until they exist.
