Subject: [off topic] imaginary PowerPC instructions
Date: Wed, 16 Feb 2011 18:41:00 -0000	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <AANLkTik-QWfLs4bJ6CBZ3L_xCR-cJx-mPH9ZWuqAOiHk@mail.gmail.com> (raw)

Hi,

After looking at some -S powerpc assembly I started wondering:

Should the powerpc have had:

bcrr[l] branch register relative
bcra[l] branch register absolute (like bcctr only not requiring mtctr)?

Anyone know off the top of their head if powerx (x>4; 4 ~= 970) has
something similar?

Off the top of your head can anyone think of any other compiler
friendly instructions that would have been nice?

Thanks! (and sorry for the noise).

kevin
