As far as I can see, nobody ever reviewed this patch:

I think this patch is an improvement: it doesn't change GCC to do the
best thing, but it at least prevents GCC from emitting bogus DWARF.

This bogus size of -1 is causing an informational warning from VMS Debug
on IA64 VMS. It would be useful to us if approved and merged.
