Thanks! In the mean time, I have been able to duplicate the problem myself. As you say, it is triggered by -gtoggle. However, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the recent patches I installed. At most they expose some latent problem in the scheduler. I have verified in the expand dumps that both the gimple and the rtl representation in the relevant parts of the code are identical, except for the presence of debug stmts and insns.
