Compiling your test case with the following version of gcc in
CVS: gcc version 2.97 20010211 (experimental)
does not produce an internal compiler failure.

 Instead it produces an error:
checktty.c:97: parse error before `{' token
 checktty.c: In function `ttyclass* new_class(...)':
checktty.c:110: parse error before numeric constant
 checktty.c: At global scope:
checktty.c:254: parse error before `{' token
 checktty.c: In function `int in_class(...)':
checktty.c:267: parse error before numeric constant
checktty.c:270: parse error before numeric constant
 checktty.c:274: parse error before `='
checktty.c:275: confused by earlier errors, bailing out

 Should this report be closed?
