 nice distillation! I had tried that myself but without success so far...
 
 Anyway, I had noticed that the ICE disappears when using dwarf (-gdwarf)
 or dwarf-2 (-gdwarf-2) debugging formats (this behaviour confirmed today
 with online Codesourcery)
