Please recall that the problem is with the normal compilation and not the 2 stage command below. Normal compilation adds a lot of additional unnecessary code to the ttt.s file. It appears that it is proceesing more than what shows from the output of the -E stage. For instance, I get an external reference to operator delete (void*) which is no where to be found in the -E output. The commands below and substituting ttt.cc with ttt.ii both produce expected results.
