Using gcc version 3.0 20010604 (prerelease) I get: 61% g++ -c -Wall -pedantic x1.cpp 62% g++ -c -Wall -pedantic x2.cpp 63% g++ -c -Wall -pedantic x3.cpp 64% g++ x3.o 65% ./a.out 123456789012345678901234567890 66% so this appears fixed.
